VYWRC Novice Dog /Novice Handler, Novice & Open Working Tests held at Buskhill Farm, Westow on Sunday, 27 April 2025 by kind permission of Mr James Needler

It was a glorious sunny day and 4 very different and challenging static tests were set by the 4 judges who were David Haycock (A Panel), Steve Burns, Darren Thompson and Jason Barnes - massive thanks goes to them for giving up their spare time to judge a total of 71 competitors!

We are also extremely grateful for the team of Helpers who threw, placed dummies or Dog Stewarded, standing out in the hot sun from 9.30am to 5.00pm with a short break for lunch. 

There is also the forgotten army of Committee Members and Hannah who, between them, made the registration process go smoothly, did the raffle, provided refreshments, lunches, prizes and added up the scores, sorted out the awards etc – and who also  helped clear up when all the excitement died down and everyone just wanted to get home.

There is no tangible way to say thank you to them but they certainly kept me sane and it could not have happened without all of them.

The standard of dogs and handlers was appreciated by the judges who took time to encourage those that struggled with some of the tests.

We had the unusual situation of a run-off for 3rd or 4th place which involved the same handler.  Eden ran off against herself to decide which of her two dogs took 3rd and 4th place!

Open Award Winners

What a day for Tarnedge Labradors!

Tarnedge Storm in a Teacup won the Open for the 3rd consecutive year - wow, how good is that!  Eden was absolutely delighted.

Tarnedge dogs were in the awards in every class - 2 in the Open, 2 in the Novice and 1 in the ND/NH.
