TRAINERS : PHILIP SMITHIES & STEVE BURNS
Driven Field Trial Training Day Report by Jane Jacob
The Vale of York held a Driven Field Trial Training Day at Quarry Farm, Westerdale on Saturday 8th January 2022 by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Richard Findlay
The weather was grim cold, wind and rain greeting us together with a dash of ice here and there! But undefeated we all turned up and wrapped up!
Phil Smithies and Steve Burns made the long journey over from Lancashire to be the Trainers for the day. Splitting us into 2 groups of odds and evens we faced the elements and the day began. Throughout the day we were advised on the procedures and the standards that would be required from us. Different scenarios from time to time were set up to allow us all have a go.
The day was one of learning allowing us all to go away with an idea what we each needed to work on.
Jane Jacobs provided us all with soup and pies, cake and port , tea and coffee at the end of the day. Joyce Smithies had kept us going mid-way through the day with homemade goodies!
Our Trainers and host were presented with Vintage Port and flowers. Windswept and weather beaten we all set off home in much kinder weather conditions.
Our thanks one again to our hosts and the fabulous and friendly guns and beaters that were provided for us.
Our Trainers who were prepared to pass on their vast amount of knowledge
Without the generosity of these people these events would just not happen….
So THANK YOU
